There are a few things you should know, and the good news is it all fits on one page. Please scan through the translation guidelines before you start.

Translating Get GNU/Linux! works with a web interface:

Transifex helps you translate all the text content of the website. Just register, login, join a translation team and start translating – it (almost) couldn’t be easier.

Only members of a translation team are able to make translations. But anyone can join a translation team. Go to the project page which gives an overview of the languages. If your language is not in the list, there is a link “Create language” which allows you to add a language. To join a team, click on the preferred language and click on “Join team” to join the translation team. Once member of a team, you can immediately start translating.
